How to get the Payactiv Card
- Download the app (iOS or Android) or log in on web if your employer has activated Payactiv for you.
- Enroll in the card from the in-app menu. Identity verification follows the standard KYC process required by the issuing bank.
- Receive a virtual card number immediately for online use.
- Your physical Payactiv Card arrives by mail within 7–10 business days.
- Switch your direct deposit to the card using the pre-filled form in the app and give it to your HR or payroll team.
Is the card safe?
Yes. The card is issued by an FDIC-member bank partner, meaning balances held in the issuing bank's custodial account are eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance up to standard limits. The card runs on the Visa® network and inherits Visa's Zero Liability protection against unauthorized transactions.
Card fees
Payactiv publishes a short-form fee schedule required for prepaid accounts under Regulation E. The highlights:
- Monthly fee: typically $0 if you use the card at least once per month.
- Card issuance: free when you enroll through the app.
- Direct deposit: free.
- EWA transfer onto the card: free.
- Out-of-network ATM withdrawal: small per-transaction fee plus the ATM owner's fee.
- International transaction: standard Visa® FX fee.

Does the card build credit?
No. Because the card is a prepaid debit card — not a credit card — it does not report payment history to the credit bureaus and does not directly build credit. If building credit is a priority, pair the card with a dedicated credit-builder product, and consider booking a free Payactiv Live counseling session to design a credit plan.
