PayactivUSA covers Payactiv — earned wage access, the Payactiv Card, Payactiv Live counseling, Savings, Perks and Bill Pay — along with the broader world of U.S. financial wellness. Readers trust us with questions that affect their rent, their groceries and their credit. This Editorial Policy describes how we make sure that trust is earned.

Who writes and reviews PayactivUSA content

Every article is written or reviewed by a credentialed professional. Our standing editorial team:

  • Elena Marsh, AFC® — Lead Editor. Accredited Financial Counselor through AFCPE® with 8+ years of nonprofit counseling experience.
  • Darius Pena, CFP® — Employer Benefits Advisor. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ through the CFP Board.
  • Priya Tan, J.D. — Compliance Reviewer. Former practicing consumer-finance attorney in California.

Our four editorial rules

  1. Experience first (the "E" in E-E-A-T). If we recommend a Payactiv feature or a $200–$5,000 personal funding option, at least one team member has used, tested or counseled clients through that specific product.
  2. Expertise second. Articles touching on specific financial products are reviewed by a credentialed reviewer appropriate to the subject (AFC®, CFP®, J.D.).
  3. Authoritativeness. We cite primary sources — Payactiv's own documentation, CFPB guidance, state financial regulators, SEC filings — rather than aggregator pages or opinion columns.
  4. Trustworthiness. We disclose every affiliation and every lender-partner relationship. We publish critical reviews alongside positive ones. We never mislead on fees or outcomes.

What a PayactivUSA article goes through before publication

  1. Topic selection. Based on real reader questions, search demand and gaps in existing Payactiv coverage.
  2. Primary-source research. Direct review of Payactiv documentation, CFPB and state-regulator materials, and comparable products.
  3. Draft by a credentialed author. Writing is done by one of our standing team members, not outsourced.
  4. Compliance review. Fee ranges, APR claims, state-eligibility notes and TILA-adjacent language are reviewed by Priya Tan, J.D.
  5. Editorial review. Elena Marsh signs off on member tone, accuracy and alignment with AFCPE® ethics.
  6. Publication with byline and date. Every article shows its author, publication date and last-updated date.

Review cycle

Every article is reviewed at least every 6 months. High-change pages — Payactiv rates & fees, lender-partner comparisons, eligibility — are reviewed quarterly. The "Updated" date on each article reflects the most recent review.

Correction policy

When we find or are notified of an error, we fix it promptly and note the correction at the bottom of the affected page with the date and a brief description of what changed. We never silently alter historical claims to hide an error.

How we handle fees, APR and other numeric claims

Specific fee amounts and APR ranges change. We publish typical ranges and link each page to our centralized rates & fees page, which carries the authoritative current numbers. If a lender partner updates pricing, the centralized page is updated first and dependent articles cross-reference it.

How we handle comparisons

When comparing Payactiv to another product (DailyPay, EarnIn, Brigit, etc.), we evaluate each on its own merits. We do not disparage competitors to make Payactiv look better, and we clearly state situations where another product may be the better fit.

What we don't do

  • We don't accept payment to write a positive Payactiv article.
  • We don't publish ghostwritten content from lender partners under our bylines.
  • We don't publish AI-generated content without human expert review.
  • We don't make claims we cannot source.
  • We don't promise approval, APR or any specific lender outcome.
